How to Protect Your Storage Unit
January 29: In response to a recent rise in self storage unit burglaries, the Fargo Police Department suggests following the safety tips below:
- Always lock your storage unit with a quality lock.
- Keep an up to date inventory of all property contained in the storage unit. Record the brand, model number and serial number to any valuable property, such as tools, electronics, bicycles, etc.
- Ensure there is adequate lighting outside your storage unit; if the lighting is not adequate, contact the management company.
- Enroll in Operation ID, a free program to safeguard your property. Contact the Fargo Police Department for more information.
- Always report suspicious activity to the police immediately.
